Dr. Yean Young
Dr. Young’s mission is to provide the finest endodontic (root canal therapy) care in a relaxed and compassionate environment, while committed to utilizing the latest advancements and innovations of science. Her goal is to save natural teeth, to relieve dental pain, and to prevent expensive and time-consuming extractions and implants. Dr. Young specializes in microscopic and microsurgical root canal treatment with state-of-the-art technology including Zeiss 3D camera microscopes, 3D CBCT scans, and the GentleWave® disinfection system.
Dr. Young received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northeastern University in 1994. She began her career as an analytical chemist for MIT/Draper laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Although she enjoyed working in the laboratory, she missed the interaction with people.
Dr. Young is honored to serve patients and their referring dentists in the South Shore and Boston Metro area for 19 years. Her practice in the South Shore has been around for 15 years specializing in microscopic and microsurgical root canal treatment. She practiced restorative dentistry for 4 years prior to specializing in endodontics, so she can appreciate the restorative dentist’s perspective with respect to the patient’s final treatment.
Dr. Young studied at Tufts University and received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree with distinction in 1999. She practiced general dentistry in Boston and Quincy before returning to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine to complete a specialty in Endodontics in 2004. Dr. Young is affiliated with the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Association of Endodontists, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the Massachusetts Association of Endodontics and American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
Dr. Young taught as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Post-Graduate Endodontics and in the Emergency Pain Clinic.
Dr. Young and her husband love being hockey parents of two active boys and one active dog. In her spare time, she enjoys and supports humanitarian efforts, reading and sitting by the water.
